Accounts Hacked
I haven't been around here in a LONG time since I pretty much don't play GW any more. A friend who still plays alerted me to the fact that he saw me online, or a character on my account (with chinese characters, but with my toon's name in brackets afterward)
I confirmed it wasn't me. I sent an email to Support with the required info to get my account hopefully restored. Did a scan of my system, no keyloggers or malware found. I don't share my account details with anyone, and have never bought gold. The only way I think they may have got the info is from a fansite, I used to belong to several in my playing days and think it's not out of the realms of possibility that I might have used the same password and email on one that I used for my account. Stupid, yes. I hold my hands up to that one.
But the hacker still shouldn't be able to get into my account without knowing my character name, right? WRONG. I combed through my emails and found one from NCSoft Support dated 23/12/2009 with info on a support ticket - the Customer Name on it was "dsfnad sadfgdsf" (You'd think that would be a big red flag to support, huh?) with title "Please help me find out my charactor (sic) name."
Surely they must request some sort of identification or CD Keys before releasing this information? It seems they didn't. Rather scary don't you think? I don't have any credit card details on the account, I've done a password reset now, so the hacker will be out of the account now, so just waiting for them to do something about it and restore my account. But my faith is really shaken in NCSoft security, and can't see me buying GW2 now, shame as I was really looking forward to it.

Hacked Account? 6 days and no reply from support :O
Six days ago l submitted a ticket to support as l was unable to login to a storage account. I'm still waiting for a reply.
If l didn't have my GW account tied to my NcSoft account, l would have been able to do a simple password retrieval. At least l'd know if it was hacked or not.
As it is, there's no way through my NcSoft account to retrieve password.
So l sit here and sweat, tapping fingers for another day.....
Just read the thread posted in sticky http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/a...tml?t=10407405 - now closed.
Then read sticky with posts from NcSoft about all the 'supposed' action they are taking.
I use Commodo, my passwords are obscure. This account is a storage acc, few people would know the names of chars on there.
It may just need a password change. Whatever, I thought 6 days was too long to wait till l read in the above thread of someone waiting 6 weeks for a response! :O
Could this even be possible? I'm speechless... *shakes head in disbelief*

Accounts Hacked
Thought I'd go grab a crown or two for my other account, as the wintersday stuff is going on again...
Well not gonna happen. Trying to log in, got invalid password.
Turns out both the account and the NC Soft master account has been compromized. My characters are all gone, they're no longer in guild and when I try to add them to friends, they no longer exist.
Still trying to work it out with support but since I no longer have my account keys (moved twice recently, and if I still have them, they're nowhere near here) I don't expect to get anything back.
The guy had 25 maxed titles, and a load of pets, just waiting for Guildwars 2 to hand over all the HOM stuff.
Anyway, I don't have a clue how this happened. The hotmail address the GW account was linked to was compromized by spammers a while ago, I petitioned that to have my GW mail changed but they refused to do this. I changed my NC Soft account mail, and changed passwords about two months ago.
All seemed well, and all of the sudden, this. My two other accounts are still there, fortunately. Ran a virusscan and malware scan, nothing on my PC. I just don't get it how they could've compromized the accounts.

Hacked account had been SOLD and used by other player!
Recently posted a thread about one of my accounts being hacked. Now customer support finally gave it back.
I found that the character had been BOUGHT by a different player, and that this player had purchased a name change and a costume, as well as played through some of the game content, made a few characters, got some loot, joined another guild, and so on, for the better part of the month!
The thing is, he can now always get access to my account because he bought stuff with a creditcard, and Support will give his account back because he has the creditcard info with which he made a purchase! And since I no longer have the CD keys of this account, it is his word against mine as to who owns the account.
I'm really upset about all of this and very pissed off that people are buying stolen accounts, probably in good faith, getting the hackers a lot of real money directly without Anet being able to do much about it.

Resigned.

Awesome. Unauthorized access was detected so the account was locked down.
Anyone who knows me will know that I am super-paranoid about internet and account safety. I have a limited amount of websites I browse (Facebook, Guru, LOLcats, email). I don't even open spam emails, I check the target of links before I open them, etc. I run an antivirus and scan regularly - the whole bit. Who knows, maybe something somewhere might have slipped through the cracks.
Waiting on support.
